Suttonians RFC are delighted to announce the management and coaching team that will lead the club's Under 20s programme for the 2026/27 season.
Following a number of seasons without a standalone Under 20s side, and after two highly successful years operating as the Vikings partnership with Coolmine RFC, Suttonians will once again field its own Under 20s team.
The return of the Under 20s programme represents a significant investment in the club's player pathway and is a direct response to feedback received from members during the club's Town Hall meetings earlier this year. The re-establishment of the team is a key step in strengthening the transition from youth rugby into the senior game and forms an important part of the club's long-term vision.
Leading the coaching setup will be Oscar Reilly, who takes on the role of Head Coach with responsibility for the forwards. Oscar has coached the Vikings Under 20s programme for the past two seasons and has worked closely with many of the current players since their Under 15s days. In addition, he brings six seasons of coaching experience with the St Fintan's High School JCT and SCT programmes, helping to develop young players both within the school and club environments. His knowledge of the group, coaching experience at the top end of Leinster Schools Rugby, and commitment to player development make him a valuable asset for this exciting new chapter.
Speaking following his appointment, Oscar said:
"It's a great privilege to be appointed Head Coach of Suttonians U20s. There's a fantastic group of players coming through the club, and having the opportunity to continue working with them over the coming months is massively exciting. For Suttonians, the re-formation of the U20s programme is a huge step and will be incredibly important in the continued development of young players within the club."
Joining Oscar in the coaching team is Darragh Kelly, who will oversee the backs. Darragh is a long-serving member of the Suttonians 1st XV and has coached alongside Oscar since the players were at Under 15 level. His experience as both a player and coach will be invaluable as the squad prepares for the season ahead.
The role of Team Manager will be filled by Noel Hehir. A familiar face within Suttonians, Noelly has previously played and coached at the club and brings extensive experience in team management and player development. Most recently, he has been involved with the Dublin Under 19 GAA setup and local club Naomh Barróg.
Completing the management team is Noah Linehan, who will take on the role of Kit Man and Assistant Manager. Noah's appointment continues the strong involvement of the Linehan family within Suttonians rugby. He is the brother of current 1st XV player Matthew Linehan and son of former Club President Gordon Linehan.
The club would like to wish Oscar, Darragh, Noel, Noah, and the entire Under 20s squad every success as they begin preparations for the 2026/27 season.
The return of a standalone Under 20s team marks an exciting milestone for Suttonians RFC and provides another important step in creating a clear pathway for young players progressing through the club.
