A fantastic performance from St Fintan’s at Donnybrook yesterday deserves a mention this morning, as they delivered an outstanding display against a formidable St Michael’s side in what can only be called, challenging conditions in Donnybrook. Suttonians players featured on both teams, with particularly strong numbers on the St Fintan’s panel. The match was an excellent contest of rugby, played with great intensity from start to an exciting finish.
While St Michael’s ultimately emerged victors, St Fintan’s had plenty to celebrate on and off the pitch. Suttonians Under-15 player and big St Fintan’s supporter Ben Healy earned front page coverage in the Irish Times. Speaking after the game, proud mum Jenny noted the striking resemblance between Ben pictured here (courtesy of the Irish Times) and his grandfather, Dave.
Also pictured are brothers-in-arms divided temporally by competition and Suttonians teammates Michael Bolger (St Fintan’s) and Haydn Gallagher (St Michael’s). We wish Haydn and his St Michael’s teammates the very best of luck in the next round.
Congratulations to everyone involved with St Fintan’s, especially the coaching team of: Mark Kaveh, Oscar Reilly and Simone Ragusi the parents and teachers, the supporters and of course the Senior Cup Squad—on a tremendous achievement. Roll on 2027.
