Come on down to Suttonians this Saturday night at 5pm to witness a truly special occasion as two legends of our women’s team, Roisin O'Driscoll and Meabh O'Brien, play their last home game before embarking on new adventures far away. Captain Roisin, who has been a cornerstone of the team, will be leaving to join the Irish Army in the Lebanon, while Captain Capt. (if you know you know) Meabh, who has been just as influential on the pitch, will be taking a well-deserved break from the army and heading to Canada. The girls have been friends through rugby and their illustrious army careers for many years, how many? I am not allowed to say. This game promises to be an emotional one, as we celebrate their incredible contributions to club and indeed country and wish them the best for the exciting journeys ahead.
Roisin and Meabh have been integral to the women’s team’s success, showing remarkable dedication, skill, and leadership throughout their careers. Their presence on and off the field will surely be missed, but we couldn’t be more excited for them as they take the next steps in their respective lives. Meabh, along with her partner Rory, will begin a new chapter in Canada, and we wish them both all the best in this new adventure. We wish Roisin a safe tour of duty in the Lebanon and pray she will return safe. We hope to see you all at Suttonians this Saturday to give them a proper send-off as they leave behind a legacy of hard work, passion, and teamwork.
